Its innovative design makes this rental different, even unique. Experience luxury and have an unforgettable stay at ‘Casa Toro’. This truly superb designer home is situated in the old coastal town of Calpe, Valencia, in the province of Alicante, and in the Marina Alta region.
A passion for ‘design as art’ drove a builder-designer couple to bring this house to life, inspired by local festivals, colours and customs.
Inside you will discover a cosy living space decorated with hand-selected art and elegant furnishing, and the sleeping areas have been cleverly designed to enhance the feeling of space. Marvel at the kitchen, with its beautifully crafted table and cutting-edge equipment.
Sleeping up to four people in super Spanish coziness, it is easy to see that this house was designed with comfort in mind. The beds and bathrooms exude luxury, and each bedroom has its own balcony. The top terrace allows you to take advantage of open-air Spanish living, as you immerse yourselves in the rich local history and culture.
Head outside, and within just a few steps you’ll feel the heart of this flourishing area. There’s no shortage of lively restaurants to try, including chef David’s the Patio de la Fuente, Lapsus Bistro, La llar de Bárbara tapas bar and more.
Outside the old town embraces you with its culture and history. This strategic location attracted Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, and Moors. Today, the old town is a delightful place to wander around, full of interesting small streets and squares.
Nearby is the catholic Parish Church, Virgen de las Nieves, the only Gothic-Mudejar temple in the Region of Valencia. Near the Parish Church of Virgen de las Nieves, and only a few minutes from ‘Casa Toro’, you will discover a wall, built to defend against pirate attacks, which features 2 cannons dating back to the 14th century.
It is so easy to explore the old town and its alleyways on foot, as you get to see all the beautiful wall mosaics and street art. A real highlight is the Mosaico Mural, on the main façade of the city’s tourism office in Old Town Calpe. The Mosaico Mural is widely regarded as one of the Calpe’s most beautiful tile murals; it the depicts a view of the Villa de Calpe, painted by Gastón Castelló, and, again, it’s only moments away from ‘Casa Toro’.
The historic centre of Calpe is always lively, but it becomes more animated during fiestas, such as the Carnival of Fallas de San José (March 19), Bonfires of San Juan (June 24), the local holiday devoted to the Virgin de las Nieves (August 5), and the Festival of Moors and Christians (October).
A weekly Saturday market is held off the Avenida Del Norte, in the old town of Calpe; though devoted particularly to fruit and vegetables, there is also much to see and buy in the way of clothes, jewellery and toys. Close by market, in Cala La Manzanera, you will discover buildings designed by the Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill, such as the popular Muralla Roja.
Slightly further afield, there are plenty of opportunities for you to try a range of invigorating outdoor adventures, but you can also enjoy the soft beaches of Calpe only minutes away, or the fine golden sands of Arenal Bol, which is only a seven-minute walk from ‘Casa Toro’.
Enjoy a day on the beach, visit the National Park, and then simply watch the stars light up the night sky from the comfort of your terrace at ‘Casa Toro’.
